Meet Our Kids

Friendship is an important part of a child’s social‐emotional development. From our friends we learn to share, to listen, and to express our feelings. But most importantly, our friends give us a sense of belonging. Read about some amazing friendships that have been developed through The Friendship Foundation and by the support of the SKECHERS Friendship Walk.

I was introduced to Friendship Foundation in the seventh grade by my charity organization. Besides hearing of the Pier to Pier Walk, and it being another name on the list of philanthropies we supported, I had no knowledge of what Friendship Foundation was about and the extraordinary things they were doing. Thankfully, I signed up and went to a movie night, which is now my favorite event. The budding friendships in the room made an electric atmosphere, and I couldn’t keep a smile off my face. That night I was introduced to so many genuine people with unwavering positivity and compassion, which are constants among everyone involved in the Friendship Foundation.

I have loved getting to know Annie at Friendship Foundation and finding our shared interests that bond us closer together. Her fun-loving spirit, competitiveness, and wittiness are contagious and make all situations memorable. We are able to talk about our love for Zac Efron, and have a blast playing and making up hand games together. It means a lot to know I have a friend like Annie who will always be kind and honest to me, and that our friendship is entirely authentic. After four years of volunteering at Friendship Foundation, I can truly say it has changed my life. It is the apex of acceptance and kindness and has provided me with an environment to be myself and explore relationships that couldn’t have been fostered anywhere else.
