Meet Our Kids

Friendship is an important part of a child’s social‐emotional development. From our friends we learn to share, to listen, and to express our feelings. But most importantly, our friends give us a sense of belonging. Read about some amazing friendships that have been developed through The Friendship Foundation and by the support of the SKECHERS Friendship Walk.

I started volunteering with Friendship Foundation during my eighth grade year to get service hours, but I had no idea how much of an impact it would have on my life. My first volunteer experience was at their Beach Camp, where I fell in love with everything about Friendship Foundation. I was no longer volunteering for the hours but for the kids and even myself.

Tyler and I first met at Beach Camp where we built sand castles, moats and an awesome friendship. One of our favorite things to do at camp was "chase the bucket," this is where Tyler would throw his bucket into the water, jump into my arms and have me run to get it, only to have him throw it farther into the waves and do it all over again. He taught me a lot about what it takes to be a good friend; you have to be patient, kind and you have to listen. Our friendship gives me something to look forward to and I absolutely love volunteering with Friendship Foundation.
