The Pier to Pier walk is attended by thousands of people in our community every year and is a very popular event with the young family subset. We want Girl Scouts to have a visible presence at the walk which we hope will encourage curiosity about Girl Scouts among families with young girls. And what better way to show our town what Girl Scouts is all about: having fun outdoors with other troops while participating in events that are important to our community.
All troops should plan to meet at 9AM at Metlox plaza dressed in their vests with appropriate adult to GS ratios. We are looking for a troop to lead a few songs. Our troop, troop 70825, will share some fun Juliette Gordon Lowe facts and lead everyone in singing happy birthday to Juliette. Then, those interested will head down to the strand to participate in the walk together.
Seeing as how we are singing songs, celebrating Juliette, leaving the world better than we found it by celebrating the Friendship Foundation, and hopefully starting a new MB Girl Scout tradition, I feel like any scouts that attend this could earn their Girl Scout Way badge, too!
Is your troop willing to lead the songs? Questions? Email Amy McIntyre at jmuamy@yahoo.com. We're excited for a fun and purposeful morning with your girls!
***Please note, no troop funds should be used when registering for the walk. This is simply a way to coordinate Girl Scout families who are participating in the walk regardless.
