Meet Our Kids

Friendship is an important part of a child’s social‐emotional development. From our friends we learn to share, to listen, and to express our feelings. But most importantly, our friends give us a sense of belonging. Read about some amazing friendships that have been developed through The Friendship Foundation and by the support of the SKECHERS Friendship Walk.

Maansi & Ben

I first joined the Friendship Foundation in the summer of 2012. I heard about it from a family friend, whose relative was in the program, and I was immediately intrigued. I knew that through the Friendship Foundation I could make a positive impact by spreading happiness and making new friends. They host many events, but my favorite is Camp Got Friends (which is, coincidentally, where I met Ben). To go to an event with a buddy, see them smile and laugh and run and tell you all the little things about their life is such an honor and a pleasure to be a part of. Each buddy’s individuality and uniqueness inspired me to be a better person, like they are. That’s why I joined the Friendship Foundation, because they believe that every person deserves love, happiness and friendship, and I couldn’t agree more.

My buddy is Ben Smith, and he’s the sweetest person I’ve ever met. We met at Camp Got Friends last summer, and we connected immediately. Actually, we had met during the middle of the week; our camp group was painting with squirt guns, and he accidentally sprayed me with paint. We giggled, and we soon became best friends. Ben is always full of energy and spirit, so when we hang out, he always has a creative new game, or toys to play with. Every experience with him is exciting and fun. He’s always keeping me on my toes. His smile is infectious, when he smiles, I smile. I’m so lucky to have a friend like him; he’s a ray of sunshine and positivity. -Maansi
