Meet some of our outstanding recipients:

Kato Kai, Stanford University
Thank you to the SKECHERS Foundation for awarding me with this generous gift. I am very thankful to have been chosen to receive such an honor. I feel that this scholarship has helped me immensely by allowing me to attend Stanford University in the fall. As many students and parents are aware of these days, tuition is extremely expensive at colleges throughout the nation. Fortunately, this scholarship will help me pursue an enriching college experience without having to worry as much about my financial burdens. Thanks to this scholarship, I can make better use of my college experience and propel myself into a better future.

-Kai Kato, Stanford University

Maci Vosberg, University of California, Irvine
It is an absolute honor to become one of the recipients of the SKECHERS Foundation Scholarship Program. I am grateful for the opportunities this award will provide me. Not only will this scholarship help reduce my financial burdens, but it will also provide assistance for me to continue my education and major in Biological Science. I plan to continue doing volunteer work in the medical field at the university. This scholarship award will further assist in helping me achieve my career goal of becoming an Occupational Therapist.

-Maci Vosberg, University of California, Irvine

I am very grateful to have received the SKECHERS Foundation Scholarship to help me through my higher education journey. I hope to eventually have a career as a clinical and research oncologist. The path to my dream job includes many years of post-baccalaureate education; knowing this, I plan on making my undergraduate years of study as affordable as possible. To me, this scholarship money represents time that I will save once I am eventually ready to go to work and establish myself financially-time that I can use to provide for my own future family instead of paying off student loan debt. And because time is the world’s most valuable commodity, I cannot thank the SKECHERS Foundation enough.

Malek Chamas, University of Southern California (Presidential Scholar)

I am overjoyed with happiness to accept this award as I feel touched to receive support in my post-secondary endeavors. Without the financial help, students like myself, would be unable to pursue college degrees. Therefore, I am extremely grateful to the SKECHERS Foundation for allowing students, such as myself, to achieve higher dreams and to learn to not hold back, regardless of financial status.

Marie Shimizu, University of California, San Diego

I would first like to thank you for selecting me to receive the SKECHERS Foundation Scholarship. It is such a wonderful award to receive, and I really appreciate that I was selected for the award; not only will the generous amount be put towards my college expenses, but it will also alleviate the burden that I put on my parents while they put me through college. I am so honored that you have chosen me to receive this award. Thank you so much!

Max Shaw, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Words cannot even begin to explain how grateful I was when my mom called me downstairs to find the letter of congratulations awaiting me. I could not believe I actually was selected. The scholarship couldn’t have come at a better time. The approximated amount that my family anticipated to pay for college wound up being a significant underestimate of the amount of UC Berkeley expects us to provide. This fall, I will be a Biology major and plan to go to medical school in four years in hopes of becoming a pediatrician. Your generosity has reinforced my aspirations to help others and give back to my community. So once again, thank you SKECHERS Foundation. Thank you so much.

Preethy Abraham, University of California, Berkeley

I am very grateful to have been selected to receive a SKECHERS Foundation scholarship. This award will greatly ease my family’s financial burden for college, particularly as my father has been unemployed since April 2017. The funds will cover my calculated student contribution at Harvard University for this coming school year, as well as allow me to purchase a new computer suited for the mechanical engineering degree I plan to pursue. This will help me concentrate on my studies and work towards achieving my goals of entering the medical robotics field to apply robotics towards helping injured people. Thank you for helping to support students like me in their educational pursuits and for providing them the necessary financial means to reach their goals.

Moriah Lim, Harvard University

I am honored to be one of the recipients of the SKECHERS Scholarship. Thanks to your generous support I am the first in my family to attend college. Growing up in a less privileged community has not only offered financial and academic challenges, but has also helped me realize the value of a college education. My educational pursuits would not be possible without generous support from scholarship sponsors like your organization. Thank you for enabling this opportunity!

Udochi Okorie, Kalamazoo College

The SKECHERS Foundation has helped me with cost of my college education immensely by granting me this scholarship, and I am so thankful for the chance to partake in this contest. Opportunities such as this make the ability for students to further their education much more attainable and much less stressful. I know that this award will benefit me in the long run in ways that I will forever be grateful for.

- Annie Behrend, University of Minnesota: Twin Cities

Thanks to this scholarship, I feel like the burden of college has been eased just that much more. Now I can focus a lot more on my education and keeping my grades up instead of worrying about raising money to buy everything I need. While it might not seem like such a big amount to some people, for me it really means a lot and I’m glad I got the opportunity to be selected.

Eric Matsudo, University of California, Santa Barbara

This gift that you guys have been so kind to give to me; is more than just an amount of money. It’s a lost hope that has been restored not only in me, but in the heart of my mother also. It is a reminder for me to keep working hard and to never give up; because with hard work and diligence comes a rewarding outcome. Lastly, it’s a chance and a tool that will allow me to finish not only my own dream, but also my father’s everlasting wish for me to finish my education and to make something of myself and use my tools to help others in need. It means so much to me that the SKECHERS Foundation is allowing me to fulfill my father’s wish. I know he is watching down on me and he too is without a doubt, thankful.

Faheema Ahmed, El Camino College

I am extremely grateful for the SKECHERS Foundation Scholarship. The scholarship truly helps me to be at a school that I feel comfortable at and that I know will provide me with a strong Engineering education so that I can use my skills to help others in the near future. The scholarship will enable me to attend RPI and not take as many loans my first year. Thank you to the SKECHERS Foundation!
